Arts Umbrella is a nationally renowned non-profit organization that provides the highest quality Dance, Theatre & Music, and Visual, Applied, and Media Arts programming for children and youth ages 2–22. For 40 years, we have helped more than half a million young people explore their artistic potential and build community in our cities, province, and country. In 2017-2018, Arts Umbrella served 24,185 children and youth, with 19,873 students engaged in Arts Umbrella programming.

An incomparable faculty of more than 170 professional artists and educators share our belief that inspiring young people through arts education is important. Children and youth across Metro Vancouver come to Arts Umbrella to learn to dance, paint, sculpt, or perform, but we are also giving them the tools to live a productive and inspired life. We believe that, through arts education, a child develops self-confidence, builds skills, and discovers their ability to create—providing limitless opportunities for the future.

Our pre-professional programs attract students from across Canada and around the world. Dance, Theatre, and Visual Arts graduates present internationally, promoting Vancouver’s role as a centre for the arts. Arts Umbrella’s students are leading the way in industries like film, performing arts, and digital technology. But more importantly, students have gone on to become creative and compassionate citizens in whatever path they choose.

The community we foster at Arts Umbrella can grow even larger and reach even farther with your support. We have an opportunity to grow our community programming, as well as our bursary and scholarship funds. This will ensure an arts education is available to all young people, regardless of socio-economic circumstance or cultural background. Our Community Programs harness the same magic and expertise as our tuition-based classes, and bring free-of-charge programs to the children and communities in Metro Vancouver who would benefit from them most.
