From our facility on Granville Island, we have the strength and capacity to reach an even larger community. We currently deliver a wide range of free programs to over 40 neighbourhood houses and community centres, and to more than 60 Metro Vancouver schools. Through donor-funded community programs, as well as donor-funded scholarships and bursaries, we remove financial, social, and cultural barriers to provide Metro Vancouver children opportunities to participate in the arts.

Close to 16,000 students accessed free programs on Granville Island and across Metro Vancouver in 2017. With the help of our donors and supporters, we provided over 500 bursaries and scholarships to the families and young people who needed it most.

With the opening of the new Arts Umbrella location on Granville Island, we’re in a unique opportunity to expand our footprint in the wider community.

By more than doubling our net square footage, we’ll have more space on Granville Island to launch new programs, and to invite young people to use our spaces. A bigger base will provide us a larger reach. The new building is a springboard for programs to expand to even more community centres, schools, health care hubs, and other facilities across Metro Vancouver, as well as distance learning opportunities across Canada.
