Growing from humble beginnings in 1979 with just 45 students, Arts Umbrella is now an internationally recognized non-profit organization with a powerful vision and unique programming model. From early learning to advanced professional training programs in the visual and performing arts, Arts Umbrella provides profound life experiences for children and youth.
A converted 1930s nail factory, Arts Umbrella’s Granville Island location is in poor condition due to overuse and age. And while our artistic staff are brimming with ideas for innovative new programs, we simply have no more room for growth. The antiquated space just doesn’t allow for state-of-the-art technologies that are now prevalent in arts education.
Now is the time for a new home, for a larger space built for arts education, exhibition, and performance, one that will become an incubator for artistic expression for the entire community.
With your generous leadership, we can leverage a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a centre of excellence for childrens’ arts education in the Emily Carr South Building on Granville Island. Your gift will create tremendous opportunities for young people to achieve the new limitless.
With deepest appreciation,
